Wine Country Vacations …
Visit Alexander Valley, Lake
Sonoma and Dry Creek Valley
in Northern California. Tour a
selection of the tasting rooms

County as one of the premier winemaking

The first Alexander Valley vineyards, in fact, were cultivated in 1844, when the Pennsylvanian Cyrus Alexander – whom the valley is named after – was assigned to develop the Rancho Sotoyome by his boss, Captain Henry Delano Fitch. Alexander’s good work was not overlooked, and Fitch drove home the point by giving him 10,000 acres of his choosing for him to further develop.

Dry Creek Valley …Internationally recognized wineries in Sonoma County. First developed by Charles Dunz, a Gold Rush immigrant from Switzerland, the Dry Creek Valley was then home to the region’s largest winery. Indeed, Dunz’s wine cellar capacity exceeded 70,000 gallons at the time.
He first bought 350 acres in 1884, and after developing the land he quickly sold it off., in 1890, to the Swiss prospector Andrew Frei. Almost a century later, Dry Creek Valley received the unique distinction of becoming one of the first American Viticultural Areas. Visit Dutcher Crossing, Lake Sonoma Winery and other exceptional Sonoma County Wineries and tasting rooms in the beautiful Dry Creek Valley.
